HELP! green screen while playin media!

Hey guys ..

i have a problem with playing media files .. (avi,wmv,mpeg etc..) see everytime i try playing it i get a green screen! but i do have sound .. so i've been searching on the inet.. i think its go to do with my Nvidia configuration.. anyways i hope someone can help me ..

my pc:
AMD Sempron, 1800 MHz (9 x 200) 3000+
Windows XP Professional Service pack 2
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE  (256 MB)
1024 MB  (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

What happened before this started?
What media player are you using?
Does it happen with all media players and file types?
Is it only video files or other media too?
When was the PC last cleaned out, is it dusty inside?
Try updating your drivers too, follow these steps.
1. Download the new drivers, but do not install them.
2. Uninstall the old drivers.
3. Reboot.
4. Install new drivers.
5. Reboot.

this happened all of a sudden .. i use VLC Player,GOM player and Media player ..
this happens with all media players and only the video file types ..
its not dusty inside .. i cleaned out recently ,,
its got to do with OVERLAY i think .. thats what i found out while googling, but i could try your suggestion ..
(uninstall old drivers >reboot>install new drivers)

These are some suggestions I found whilst on Google.
Check device manager for any conflicts.
Uninstall and reinstall your codecs.
The easiest and most likely solution is to get the latest drivers, if that doesn't help try the other suggestions.

Heya ..
i just Reïnstalled my pc ,, it was allready acting weird so ..
now i have formatted it and installed xp and downloaded & installed the latest drivers, and everything seems to be working fine ..
