DDR PC2100 - Adding memory

Have 768MB on 3 X 256MB modules of DDR PC2100 RAM.

Do need a little more.  Can I replace one of the allowed 3 Dimms with a 512MB Dimm?  Final line up will be 1x 512 and 2 X 256?

Used to be impossible to do this in the olden days but might be OK now - just don't know!!

I suggest you refer to your mainboard manual for more information on what your mainboard can work with..

Rules for adding this are unlikely to be M/B specific, I would imagine.

However, I have been wrong before.

Sorry, and you're wrong again.  There are no standards (rules) for this.  It's up to the mobo maker.  If I had to guess, I'd say it's okay.  You won't damage anything, it just won't work.  You probably don't need more RAM, depends on wht you use the computer for.  You can look up RAM configurations here:  http://www.crucial.com
