You might want to fix your keyboard first.

Anyway, can you be a little more specific? Like your OS (operating system e.g. XP, Vista) and lots of other stuff I can't be bothered listed.

HEY THERE,
SORRY, I WASN'T MORE DESCRIPTIVE. IT'S MY 1ST TIME IN A HELP FORUM!

THE ERROR I RECEIVE IS- ERR 5 ERROR FINDING V FLOPPY.SYS
ALSO ERR 8 - FAKE FLOPPY DRIVER NOT FOUND

RUNNING WIN DOWS XP HOME EDITION

TRIED OPENING WINDOWS IN SAFE MODE - USE LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION AND START WINDOWS NORMALLY. WILL RESTART AND WINDOWS WILL LOAD BUT WHEN I LOG IN TO MY USER, GET AN POPUP WINDOW THAT SAYS " WINDOWS EXPLORERS MUST SHUT DOWN" AND THEN THE SYSTEM LOCKS UP. IF I CLOSE THE WINDOW, IT JUST KEEPS POPPING BACK UP AND THE DESKTOP NEVER LOADS

HAVE TRIED THE RESTORE DISCS TO NO AVAIL

APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE

THANKS JAN

CANNOT GET TO DESKTOP, RECEIV

Well, I'm just guessing here, but I don't think the problem is hardware-related. Until the experts come, I'll be trying to help.

So you say you opened in Safe Mode? If you did, the moniter would say Safe in the corners of the screen. If you went in Safe Mode and this still happened, it might not be a virus, but it's best to check anyway. Do you have any anti-virus software and firewalls?

And what do you mean by "locks up"? Like, it shuts down, or does it freeze or something? And do you have the real Windows CD? If we can't solve this problem, you might need to reformat.

And what's this mean:
Quote
CANNOT GET TO DESKTOP, RECEIV

And I don't know about this:
Quote
ERR 8 - FAKE FLOPPY DRIVER NOT FOUND
Unless the name of your floppy drive is fake...

The cavalry should be here soon, so just hold on and please turn off Caps Lock.

More questions....

Do you also get the message that NTLDR is missing or corrupt ???

Has Drive Image 2002 been used ???

Here's a little about Drive Image 2002...

"Drive Image 2002 is Windows XP compatible, it's been used dozens of times to successfully back up and restore partitions in XP. Drive Image causes the error message you received. When you choose to back up a partition, Drive Image rewrites the Master Boot Record of your hard drive so that when you restart, a virtual 'floppy’ disk is loaded, enabling Drive Image to run and make the image in question. When the process is complete, Drive Image is supposed to rewrite the MBR so you can boot normally, but it appears it hasn’t done so in this case."

Turn off your capslock before responding please.
