My mouse is broken :(

Lately my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical USB (P/N X08) has been acting funny.
For example, when I single click, it double clicks, and when I drag something it lets go randomly. And now it's started clicking randomly. I know it's not operating system related because it does it in both Linux and Windows. Right now I switched back to my old mechanical mouse, but I would like to know what's wrong with my MS mouse :(

Well, it's either dirty and needs to be opened up and thoroughly cleaned out...or, like you said, it's broken and there isn't much you do short of replacing it.

    You can get a basic USB optical scroll mouse for about $5-$10.
