this is what i seee when the laptop comes on please help me thank you if anyones is there.
the erro message says WIndows could not start because the following file is mising or corrupt:

\WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM
 
a child was playing with the laptop before
and the specs are  Presario 900 series specifically 912RSH
AMD Athlon
Microsoft XP
this was made btween 1985-2001
please help thanks

do you have a xp cd from Ms or a hp recovery cd with the words operating system on them??


it had to be made in the mid to late 90s  probably... and how do you not know when you got it??

Try this as well...

At the recovery console type chkdsk /p (note the space between the "k" and "/p"  ) and hit enter.2 After it completes, restart the computer.
