Toshiba T2000SX
« on: June 09, 2007, 04:20:14 PM »
2 days ago i bought an old toshiba t2000sx laptop from a garage sale for 2$. The battery was dead and it came with no ac adaptor. using a powerpack i wired it up so the powerpack put 14 volts into the battery terminals with the battery still in them (the laptop refuses to use battery power if the battery isn't in it)
it worked  for about an hour and i went through its dos and windows 3.1. i turned it off by pressing the power key, then turned it on again. it went fine, except for a resume failure error

WARNING: RESUME FAILURE
PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE

Then booted up normally
when i turned it off after that this is what happened
it had the same error and did its memory checks
and then froze
then, after much humming from the machine

PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK
PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE

and that is all that it will do now
i can't get into the bios of the machine, and i have no idea which disk i should use. will a dos boot disk work? the machine was running dos 3 and windows 3.1
can anyone tell me where to download the contents of this disk so i can make a boot disk? any advice on what to do?

This laptop probably has about 8MB Ram and a 40MB hard drive...tops.

What on earth do you plan on doing with such a machine?  I mean you only paid $2 for it, but...why???

Here's a link for boot disks:

http://oldfiles.org.uk/powerload/bootdisk.htm

Advice:  Don't waste your time...you have a $2 doorstop.

The difference between a boot disk and a system disk is that a system disk, specifically Windows 3.x, is the disk(s) containing the OS for your computer.

What exactly are you looking for, because I have sent you links to both, boot disks and Operating System.
