    My computer speakers have started emitting an echo which has now become so bad that the noise is incomprehensible. I have WinXP and Realtek something ( I think!!) ???

      just check ur realltech sound settings on control panel or task.
      try change setting in to the default settings

      Have you tried another set of speakers?  Yours may have gone bad.

        Thanks for your replies. Although I checked the Realtek prior to posting my query, I rechecked and I do not know what I did, but all is apparently solved as the sound is now great. Thanks again!
