Converting musicfiles with dBAmp slows down PC!! Normal?

When converting musicfiles from a given format to MP3 with dBAmp(version 12), I can't do anything else on the PC besides waiting until the conversion is ready, and when trying it takes "hours" before other programs open and the Net I just can forget...

I have 1024Mb RAM, 3200Mhz PC AMD 64 Athlon, XP complete with SP2 and the patches/updates, IE60...

Might there be something wrong with the RAM?

Is dbPowerAmp set to 'high priority' when you are converting?
-that will slow it down a lot.

If it isn't, I wouldn't be worried anyway, would seem normal when converting media.

Ignore it.
That's normal behaviour - DBPowerAmp will use all of your CPU to convert files in the minimum time and with the bets quality possible.
It's best to leave it alone when it's converting or you risk errors in your music, such as skipping.

Keep in mind the 3 more taxing things a computer does for you are video, audio and burning... i try to schedule these projects for when i'm sleeping.
