dvd drivd trouble

My dvd/cd rw drive no longer even reads dvds. I have tried updating the driver, even have reinstalled windows, it worked for a minute then back to not reading them. any sugestions?

      Is this the same laptop? Sounds like it's dying - I'd salvage what you can and buy a new one. I don't think theres much hope in the drive reliably working again, especially as the problem indicates a hardware fault.

      Has this problematic laptop taken a recent spill by the way ? ?

      The issues seem similar...DVD not working...HDD not recognised.
