.dbx files from Outlook Express
« on: August 19, 2007, 08:19:36 PM »
I followed all the instructions from Microsoft to backup my e-mails on Outlook Express 6 and was able to successfully get them in a folder and then to a CD.  However, when  I try to open the backed up files, I get the message that Windows cannot open  the .dbx files.  I am not a savy computer user and would appreciate any basic information to help me be able to open my backed up files.  Thanks for any help someone can give me.

Sounds like you have backed up correctly, you can not open a .dbx file from windows, it doesn't reconise the file extension. Having a backup is for when your current emails don't work or you want to put them on another computer, to do this you open outlook express and go to file, import, messages, select the path of where you have your backup stored (e.g cd ) and import from there
