Hyper terminal - cannot send break command
« on: June 30, 2007, 11:46:36 AM »
Hi hope I m ain the right forum for this query.

I am trying to set some IP addresses on some IBM DS4300 disk controllers before adding to a network; my instructions to do this is connect my laptop to the disk controllers serial port; send a break command then set IP addresses using ipconfigset commands. (I have doen this in the past before - about a year ago). My problem today is that once I have connected my laptop to the disk controller with a usb to serial command; started hyperterminal; when i press CTRL+break command it does not send break signal to hyperterminal allowing me to access the shell on the disk.

I am using BAUD settings 19200; 8 data bits; 1 stop bit; no parity; Xon/Xoff control on comm port 6

I don't have much knowledge of hyperterminal - I was just given these instructions and they have worked in the past. My background is Storage infrastructure; not TCP/IP or hyperterminal!

Hope someone can suggest what I am doing wrong/a solution to try!

thanks
