I was hoping some one could help with my error situation.  My computer went to a blue screen and mentioned some error that may have been caused by a new device being installed (none were installed).  It also stated that a physical memory dump would be done.  The message also mentioned re-starting up in safe mode to delete the new drivers. I don't have more information on the error because now it won't come back up.  I can start my computer but it is like it doesn't recognize the monitor.  The computer will run but never shows anything on the monitor.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

First are you familiar with the internal parts of a computer?

Do you feel comfortable in there?

Somewhat comfortable, I have added slave hard drives and other cards in the past.

Strip it down to just a keyboard, monitor, and graphics.

Any other external USB,or add-on cards inside get removed.

If it boots okay, add back one thing at a time....when it quits you
found your problem.

Well it worked.   I unplugged any additional cards other that my video and keyboard/mouse cards.  I also unplugged my cd and floppy disk (can't remember the last time i used this drive) drives.  I was able to get it up and running.  I was busy trying to uninstall un-needed programs and doing general clean up and got the message again.  I am currently running a disk defragmentation in safe mode.  I tried to write down the full error message but only got about an 1/8th of it down before it restarted.  Any other clean up/maintenance you could recommend would be much appreciated!

Thanks for your help street1!!!

Well, there was a time when it ran okay.Perhaps you could use system restore in Safemode.

I will do that and see how it goes.  It seems that I should be able to at least use this computer for the short term.  Thanks again for your help :) :) :)

The actual error message will be helpful in diagnosis....post it here if you can.

I wish I could, I have only been able to jot down the first paragraph before it has restarted, I will post if it comes up again and I am able to write more of it down.

I am back.  I have been so frustrated I haven't done much with this lately.  I think this may be a mother board issue, but since I am not technically inclined I am not sure.  I now can not get the monitor to be recognized.  I don't know if it is worth buying a video card and seeing if that works or not.  I had it up in safe mode trying to figure out what was wrong but couldn't find anything and it seemed to be doing fine, so I re-started to try and get it up and running and it no longer will recoginize the monitor.  Any ideas??  It is getting close to the dumpster.  >:( >:( >:(

Just so we're clear...are you saying you get video in safemode but not when you boot to regular mode ? ?

I now get no video at all.  The moniter never comes on during start up, so I never see even see the boot screens.
