My monitor wont work in new computer
« on: July 03, 2007, 11:54:16 AM »
Hi guys

I received my new custom bult pc today with everything minus an FDD and OS pre-installed.

Upon connecting my old monitor to the pc and switching it on the monitor just went straight into power saving mode (i.e. the power button went from green to orange). It works fine on my old pc though the only time this happened before is when I play a particular game (it doesnt happen every time) but that seems to make the whole computer go into standy by (It is empire earth - a very demanding game for my old pc).

I'm not sure if my new pc specs will be any help here but I will post them if requested. My monitor is an 15" LG flatscreen.

Does anyone know what is going on?  >:(

Are you able to boot into the BIOS?

Do you have onboard graphics and a
add-on graphics card?

Well,I believe you have your monitor hooked to the wrong
outlet.See if you have another place on the back of your
computer to plug it in.

I think you have it hooked to the onboard graphics and it needs
to be hooked to the add-on graphics card.
