hand-held scanner will not work
« on: July 10, 2007, 04:12:20 PM »
Hi there,  I have a hand held scanner (Symbol P460) that I am trying to get to work.  My computer runs Microsoft XP.  I can upload numerical information to my notepad program.  However when I try to hook up to my software, which is CAM Commerce: Gift Registry, it does not upload the information.  Instead what it does is change the bit rate for which  the computer is set...it jumps around from 400 to 9600 and is supposed to stay 9600.  I have heard things about serial data and other data...am I running into an issue with the type of data that I am trying to upload?  I am scanning a few barcodes on various products.  I have been working on this issue for over a year and I have talked to the company that makes the scanner and I have talked to the company that makes the software there are no answers!!!  I am so frustrated.  Please help me.

    1. is downloading the data into Windows- "notepad" the default or implied location with the software instructions for this unit?

    2. CAM Commerce: Gift Registry  <<  is this software recommended or approved with this particular model and did you have any issues with this software when you installed it on the computer ?
