high contrast messed up webpages
« on: July 11, 2007, 04:10:08 PM »
my brother was messing with the laptop, thinking he could do whatever he wanted to it. I turn it on the other day and i see that he sets it on high contrast #2, which almost completely messes up webpages (images are unaligned, colors are whacked up, links don't look how they usually do.) I try to change it in the Appearance tab in Display, but the webpages are still messed up, so i do a system restore and everything is back to normal...

Today I found out he did the same stuff once again and now system restore won't work. I tried messing with other things, like the Performance thing in System Properties, but it doesn't seem to fix it at all. Does anybody else have suggestions on what i should do?

Exactly what is "high contrast #2"?

I think having separate user accounts for you and your brother would be a good idea. That way, you can each set certain preferences for your account.

    Agreed.

And since he shows no respect for your equipment i'd certainly lock down his Administrator priveledges so he can't make harmful changes...

    1) "High Contrast #2" is an appearance setting in display properties.

    2) Already done. I didn't think of it until I realized my account was unaffected so I deleted the old one and created a new one. Thanks for the help, tho  :-[

Exactly where?  I don't see it in my Win XP Pro SP2 system, and Google isn't yielding anything directly related.  Have you modified your system someway to have this option?

you find it under control panel --> accessibility options --> display --> settings. In the drop down menu there's a whole bunch of different contrast schemes.
