Drives Don't Open

My Sony  FDD 1.44" doesn't detects the Floppy and LED glows continiously...Is the Problem with FDD or with Installation

I have 160 GB HD with 6 Partitions(C,D,e,F,G,H).When i Double click on the any of (E,F,G or H)last four partition ,in My Computer folder it doesn't opens rather an Open with window opens and asks me to Select a program to open it with . If I open it in Windows Explorer by Clicking at the chart on Left then it opens... Whats the Problem  and How can it b Solved.

    Usually, a constantly "on" light on the fdd means the data cable is on backwards.

    When did it start happening / did it ever work right?

      Ohh yeah the old backwards floppy cable... for some reason I never seem to be able to get it right the first time. :D
