« on: November 17, 2004, 02:11:32 PM »
I have used Word Perfect61 for quite some time, today I cannot access my files or the program and keep getting this message.  C:|Windows/system32/autoexec.nt.  The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Choose clost to terminate the application.  Can you please help!! :'(

Have you done anything recently that could cause this? Changed some system settings??? What OS are you using.

Isn't WordPerfect 6.1 a DOS version?  How did you get it to work on WinXP?

Is this program DOS based? I can't think of much to help though... XP is not my speciality.

If it's DOS-based, you could try a DOS emulator like:
        http://dosbox.sourceforge.net
although it takes a little setting up... I know we all have our favourate programs, but it might just be easiest to use a more recent simlar program like Word I'm afraid...

yes I realize it would be easier to get a more current program, however I work from my home and my contractor requires me to use this program.  I am on a dealine when this happened.

What file format is it saved in? .txt? If you're on a deadline, you might have no choice but to use another program. I can't understand why your contractor would insist on a certain word processor ??? text is text is text

You could try compatability mode. Right click the program's main execulatable, select properties and look for compatability mode. Try the various modes.

Do you have another Word Processor, most all can save as WordPerfect DOS format.
You can download a trial version of WordPerfect12 here:
