    Windows XP/Vista DVD burning
    « on: August 05, 2007, 04:28:45 PM »
Why can you burn CDs with the Windows XP operating system but not DVDs?  Is this also the case with Windows Vista?

    Thanks

At this very moment, I'm burning DVD's on Windows XP.  You need a DVD burner.

I'm pretty sure what he means is burn dvd's without installing other software. In Visa you can burn data dvds without anything extra. I'm not much sure after that.

Yes, I have a DVD burner.  I know that you can buy software such as Nero to burn DVDs, but why can't Windows XP burn DVDs by itself?  Why can it burn CDs with no other software but not DVDs?

You can't burn DVDs because Microsoft didn't implement that feature.
I'm sorry if you were looking for a different answer, but that is what it all boils down to. Microsoft didn't think it was worth including.

If you need a program to burn DVDs with check out CDBurnerXP. It's free.
