Opening a MS Word Document that contains both English and Chinese languages

Does anyone know how to open a Word Document (Office 2000) that contains both English and Chinese (PRC) languages?  The OS is Windows XP Pro.  The Chinese language has been added to Word, do the regional settings need to be changed in order to read the doc?

I'm not sure about this but I believe you may need to install Chinese via the Regional and Language options in Control Panel.  Here's a reference: Installing East Asian Language Support Under Windows XP
