Sony Viao laptop DVD drive will not open
« on: August 19, 2007, 04:17:24 PM »
I was recently conducting a system restore wth sony Viao resotre discs and the power went out. Now my computer will not boot all the way and my DVD tray will not open. I can press F2 to get to the Bios screens, but can find nothing that will open my DVD tray.
Please help. There must certainly be a way to open the DVD tray as the computer is starting.
Thanks.

There should be a little hole on the outside of the CD tray, take a paperclip, bend it so it's straight and push
it in the hole. The tray should pop open.

If this is one of those rare occasions where the CD drive doesnt have a hole:

Your drive might just be busted. Be glad (I know, its hard to be glad) that it didnt get the rest of your computer.
There should be a keyboard combination that you can try, by pressing the FN key, and the key, and while holding that down, press the other key somewhere on your keyboard that has a picture of a CD-ROM drive.
