    Micro Tape to Digital/mp3 conversion
    « on: August 20, 2007, 07:26:26 AM »
Hello. I was wondering whether any of you could help me. Does anyone know how to transfer the audio from a microtape (from a dictaphone) onto the computer into preferaly mp3 format so it can be emailed? I currently use XP.
    Many thanks

I'd plug the dictaphone (whatever that is) into the line-in on the sound card and use audacity to capture the audio.

I agree.  He may need to get an adapter or special cord so that he can plug into a (head)phones jack on the dictaphone and the Line In on the computer.

Ok Stupid question. I am on a laptop and have found two holes where i assume the sound card is. there is one which says SPDIF OUT/'headphones symbol' and the other has the microphone symbol. which one to i use as the line in for the conversion from tape to mp3 using Audacity?

        Many thanks

If that is only two choices, you will have to use mic jack.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
