Do you have an add on video card and integrated video ?

If so,check your BIOS settings.

What did you do to fix it?

You could try running Memtest but I couldn't guarantee that's the problem, it's probably motherboard oriented.
    System specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (up to 3.3 stock V and air)
    ASUS Striker Extreme
    XFX 8600GT XXX Edition
    2x 1gB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800
    Seagate Barracuda 320gB SATA
    Raidmax Ninja 918 (520W ATXV2.0 PSU)

and fixed the monitor problem by removing a faulty ram card

Do you have a floppy bootdisk?

Travel to bootdisk.com for any flavor of Windows boot disks...they are in zip format and just need to be extracted to a blank floppy...

That floppy should be bootable...revisit bootdisk's site and follow the instructions on creating the floppy...
Another thing related to your error messages...when folling inside you may have dislodged the IDE ribbon cable to the HDD. Make sure it is snug.
If it is that HDD may have bit the dust.
How old is it ? ?

You need the boot floppy to see if you can log the hard drive to see what's on it...
A password in the setup routine was not mentioned earlier...
If this is a laptop Good Luck.
If not remove the CMOS battery about the size of a dime located on the motherboard.
Do this with the power cord unplugged and hit the power switch a few times to discharge stored energy.
Be careful removing the battery...you don't want to break it's holder.

        Post back with your progress...
