sata plug and port size don't match
« on: September 02, 2007, 08:31:06 AM »
I bought an ECS 915PL-A2 Socket 775 Motherboard which came with sata ports. so I bought a sata hard drive and a sata power supply so go with it.  The hard drive arrived non sata  so I returned it and am waiting for the right one.  But the power supply did arrive and it has a wide sata plug but the motherboard has only 4  short sata  ports.

I imagine what I need is a sata adapter, but is there such a thing?  I need to adapt a short port into a long port.

    Ehh what?
The sata plugs coming from the power supply aren't supposed to fit in the sata ports on the motherboard. You plug them in to the back of the hard drive along with a sata data cable. It is the data cable that fits in the plugs on your motherboard.
