D-Link router dropping wifi connection
« on: September 03, 2007, 01:58:43 PM »
Hello all,

I have a little problem here. I have a DI-624 D-Link wireless router and have had it for 2 years already. My mom just got a Gateway laptop with Vista and Intel PRO/Wireless. Ever since then we've had problems where the wireless connection would drop on hers. For the record it would drop on my connection to. My computer is an XP machine w/ a D-Link DWL-G520 wireless adapter. The thing tho, is that anybody on the ethernet (which is just one XP machine) is A-OK. Does anybody know why this is happening and maybe any suggestions?

You may want to check the firewall settings on both yours and your mother's computer to see if the firewall is allowing the wireless connections.

A dropped connection may also ne a result of a signal not being able to reach the adapters...you can try using a gain antenna that can help boost the signal from the router to the adapters.
