Folder Security Settings in Vista
« on: September 07, 2007, 04:38:42 PM »
I made a BIG mistake by trying to change the security settings on my external hard drive folder.
I removed all of the "system" "users" "creator owner" access.
My hard drive was not accessible giving me this message everytime...
"f: is not accessible. Access Denied."
I then returned into the security settings and tried adding some permissions ful control to administrator creator owner users etc...
Suprisingly enough i can acess the folders and files.
THe odd part?
I cant delete any of the files and i keep getting this message: "the recycle bin seems to be corrupted. would you like to empty the recycle bin now?"
i press yes and it opens a window saying: You need permission to do this.
i then have three buttons: try again or skip or cancel.
How can i reset everything back to default here?
I just want everything back as normal.
I dont knwo if this helps but i added back all the system creator owner administrator everyone user groups blah blah and gave them all FULL CONTROL. But one of em has a red X on his icon and its the Administrator one...
Also the CREATOR OWNER has "special" permissions i dont know if this is a problem also
Maybe thats the source of the problem? How can i fix this
Thx alot for ur help.

Try a System Restore to a point where everything was as it should've been.
