Was the message from Comodo or was it a system alert?

I know this may not help you...but, let me ask you some questions...

            1)  Is your computer connected to a router?
If so...you have no need for a software firewall, such as Comodo, Norton, or any other third party firewall software program.  The reason being...the router has its own hardware firewall installed that will protect your computer.  There's really no need for a software firewall program.

            2)  Does your computer have a DSL, Cable, or other broadband connection, but is not connected to the router?
Then you should definitely have a software firewall installed on your computer.  While the pre-installed Windows Firewall is sufficient for blocking most inbound attacks, it does not monitor any outgoing applications.  However, contrary to popular belief, the Windows Firewall is sufficient for todays needs...though you will find other opinions...and opinions come a dime a dozen.
The same goes for having a dial-up connection...a software firewall is needed here, as well.

So why you're trying to figure out how and why you're using Comodo...ask yourself the above two questions and then make a decision whether or not you want to continue learning this program or not.

yes i have broadband connection and my computer is not connected to a router.

            Ivy...

Follow the instructions, here, to turn on Fast User Switching.

            When using any firewall software...

            1)  If this is a new installation of Comodo...it will need to learn what applications you use that need access to the Internet.  So if you click on a link to your browser or open your email program or any program, for that matter, that requires access to the Internet...Comodo will display a dialog box asking if you want to allow or deny this appication from accessing the Internet.  If you know the program Comodo is referring to, i.e., ie.exe...this is Internet Explorer...it's not hard to figure out that you'd want Comodo to allow this.  There should be a check box to remember your decision or answer...so Comodo won't bother you with that particular application again...this is its way of learning.

            2)  The same goes with any application you use that requires Internet Access...be it Outlook Express...AVG...etc., etc.

            3)  Now we don't know all the software you have installed on your computer that requires Internet access, but just be careful you don't deny a program that needs access...otherwise...you'll be scratching your brain trying to figure out just what went wrong.

            4)  If you're not sure you should allow or deny a program...give us a shout when you get the Comodo dialog box and we'll be more than happy to walk you through your decision...

            -Good Luck!

            -Steve

Do you have multiple users on your computer?

There may have been a program that was accessing the Internet which applied to all users on your computer.

Fast user switching allows you to change users without closing applications or logging out.
