Windows Start Up Disc
« on: September 11, 2007, 11:47:56 PM »
My laptop uses Windows XP and is currently getting a stop message on start up.
"Unmountable_Boot_Volume"
0x000000ED, 0x85365900, 0xC0000006

On the windows website it said that this problem would need my windows startup disc. I dont have my startup disc anymore. Is there a way to obtain a new one or is there a different way to fix this. I cant even get my laptop to completely start up anymore!
Thank You!

I fround the following on google if it helps-

• Your computer uses an Ultra Direct Memory Access (UDMA) hard disk controller, and the following conditions are true:
• You use a standard 40-wire connector cable to connect the UDMA drive to the controller instead of the required 80-wire, 40-pin cable.
• The basic input/output system (BIOS) settings are configured to force the faster UDMA modes.
• The file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.

At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to restart your computer. For additional information about how to use the Recovery Console in Windows XP, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

This should help ya !

Again Spero-T you fail to address the OP's question.

Why don't you have a XP disc anymore? Did you loose it or was your laptop not shipped with one?

This site claims that the error message is usually caused by a corrupt Boot.ini file and has some suggestions for a cure.

If you go here and download/unzip/burn the .iso file for Windows XP Emergency Boot CD then boot from it you might be able to boot to Win on your hdd then rewrite the Boot.ini file.

      Good luck
