Change computer model

I lost my recovery disk for my laptop (toshiba) I got a new one from toshiba but it was for a different model, they dont have my model as it came from the USA. Is there a way of making my computer think it is a different model?

    Look HERE for your model and see if you can find anything useful. They may have sent you disk for a model sold only in Japan.
    If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

    I got my laptop in USA back in 2004 while I was over there for work but now that I am home in Australia. The model I got was not sold here and Toshiba Austraila sold me a disk for a different model when I told them about this they told me that I would have to ring Toshiba in the US, I have been able to find an email for Toshiba USA.

    UPDATE:

    You may run into a little trouble when it comes to finding recovery software for your Toshiba...due to its age.

    A recommendation would be to decide what Operating System your computer can handle and install it.

    If you have problems finding drivers for your computer, you can locate them here.
