    router info
    « on: September 15, 2007, 12:26:29 PM »
    Hey Computer Hope,

    Does anyone know of a way to get information about the router my computer is behind?  Is there a program that will give me information about the router name or model number?

    Thanks

    The Saviour

      1. Pick up the router (modem) that plugs into your phone socket and read the name and model

      2. Control panel>Network Connections> right click on dial up for properties

      3. If you are on a company network - ask your network administrator

        Saviour - i think people often get confused by the name router. Not realising that the modem is the router.

        I blame the Americans for always changing the names of things  :P

        Car boot = car trunk

        Biscuits = cookies

        crisp = chips

        chips = fries

        they can't help re-naming things  ;D

        ... Not realising that the modem is the router.
        Could be but we don't know that, based on the info provided in the OP.  He may have a combination modem/router or he may have a modem AND a router, two separate devices.  I think most likely the latter.

        And the router could be in another location as well...
