Windows Media Player nor System Restore will open
« on: September 17, 2007, 08:01:21 PM »
I have a Dell Dimension running Windows XP.I realized about 3 weeks ago my WMPlayer would not run. When i try to open i just get an hour glass for a few seconds and then nothing opens. My first response was to restart the computer,no help.I then thought about using system restore but alas it opens to a blank screen if at all.I feel these problems might be related to each other.Oh i also thought about Directx not being current so downloaded an update and would not install saying i have problen with a windows file cabinet ??I'm sorry dont have the exact message.Anyone familiar with these problems ???Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks

Try openning your restore system in safe mode.Restart your computer & when the windows logo comes up push the F8 tab. Put your computer in safe mode try your restore. Then you might be able to restore to an earlier date.
