    Hi all,
my friend's PC seems have a big problem and he can't start his PC normally.
When he boots up his PC, what he can see is a black dark screen.
he has tried to use Safe Mode, but it can't help at all.

I am wondering if some important system files of his Windows XP have corrupted.
I wanna help him with the Recovery Console,  but don't know the commands that can
save his PC by checking which sys files needed to be repaired.

    Could some one help please?

Does this mean he can boot into Safe Mode?

More info including the Windows version and system specs , what happened prior etc. will be very helpful.
