Pelicans in Halo 3

Okay, I heard a rumor that in halo 3 you can finally fly pelicans. But I bought the game and completed the whole thing but I still can't find out how to fly a pelican. Can anyone help me? :'(

....I know you can fly pelicans in Halo Custom Edition (PC).......
