Why are you here?
« on: October 13, 2007, 11:18:28 AM »
Like the title says. How did you find computer hope and what made you stay?
A while back I had a virus so I googled computer help or something and this was one of the higher results. Then I left when it was fixed but recently the site I am a good member on has been down because go daddy shut them down for suposed illegal activity. >_> LOL. So basicly until there back up I'm going to be posting here.

I had a virus problem , went everywhere on the internet , finally found CH .
Now this gonna be funny...can you believe it , i actually waited for 2 days for the Online help on the CH site , then i came to the forums as no one was ever online , here someone told me that he had forgotten that the online help even existed , but the forum was unbelievibly active , just like an online help would be.
CH is great place to learn .
I Learned so much here.

Let me check my old posts and determine the answer...
Two hundred and fifty pages of posts back (as of October 13 2007 2:56PM) it seems that I was seeking advice for why Outlook Express had a mind of its own when selecting a user ID.

(Of course, when I started, I didnt have an avatar. Eventually, I had Garfield)

This was my first contribution to the forum:

This was my first near-completely incorrect post, and probably the first time I really learned something on ComputerHope:

Hmm I can't even remember how I ended up here. But I was most likely searching on something random and somehow I ended up in this thread:

I was looking for a solution to a computer problem last year, and came on here to try to find it. I keep going to the online chat place, but nobody was on there except for once. I stated the problem and he told me to go to the forums because all the people there were a lot smarter than he was. I did not want to have to wait for help (not that it mattered, it took me like a month to fix it anyways).

So anyways, several months later right before the school year (my last year in high school) was going to end, I was trying to code some webpages, and needed help, so I remembered this site and came here. Then I signed up (my first forum ever), and then sorta looked around and kinda became familiar with the forum. So I started posting answers to get my post count up fast (I wasn't spamming). So then I met all the regular members and really enjoyed it and decided to stay.

Hmmm..... I think I came here to learn about Command Prompt and Batch, which had caught my eye for one reason or another. And I stayed here because I just got addicted to learning more, and now I'm here. This place is cool.....

My first post.... Wow, my posts were really bad back then.....

Merlin used to be helpful, I guess

I came here again a while back about my Compaq SR1220NX computer that was booting on LAN... of course, I didnt know what "boot on LAN" meant, but then I learned. He was right... for some strange reason, he knew my approximate location...
