little problem hope some one can help

I was on craigslist trying to reply to  a job and it keeps saying email failed (like what i put below  could some one please help me   thank you)

The host 'smtp' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'http', Server: 'smtp', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Port: 25

Try changing it to port 587. Restart browser. What browser, anyway?

thispost is from a friend of mine....he's  on  XP home  with  Explorer   / using outlook for his  email  [      i wasn't sure what to tell him.....    I'll help him with your port change
