    Wireless modem won't connect
    « on: November 09, 2007, 06:47:15 AM »
Sorry if there's spelling mistakes here. I'm writing on my laptop and the screen's busted. I've to drag everything into a small space on the left side of the screen to see.

I bought a 3G wireless modem which should work once I install the software, but when I hit  connect I get a message saying - error 711: RasEntry failed.
This happens when I click connect in the utitily menu.

I'm using Windows XP and I have everything needed to run it. My laptop is much older and it can use the 3G connection fine.

I rang their customer service and brought my PC to a technician, neither could fix the problem. Although the tech did say a virus may be blocking me, has anyone heard of anything like that? I ran all my virus detectors (all the ones recommended on  this forum) and they came up with nothing. I also tried switching off all my firewalls.

    Is this dial-up?

Did you specify a number to dial?

    Also try this:
    Go Start>Run, type in:
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit Enter.
    You'll be prompted to restart.
