Recycle bin

when i click to empty recycle bin I am now getting an error message as follows : error deleting file or folder - cannot delete desktop - access is denied - make sure the disk is not write protected or full and the file is not in use.  Then I click again and gives the same message but the files are deleted on the second or third click.

This has happened in the last few weeks and never before.  I have CPU AMD Athlon 2800 and 2GB RAM
