Computer Monitor

We have a old style monitor maybe close to ten years old and a five year old computer but we've had no problem with it until now.  I just signed on the computer today and there are two wavy lines on the left side of the screen, one on the top and the other on the bottom.  I tried to adjust the picture settings but it has no affect.  Can anyone help me ?

Maybe, you need to update your video driver, or maybe your monitor is going south.
If you have another computer, you may want to hook up your failing monitor to the second computer.
If not, we need Windows version, and exact computer make, and model.

Yeah well with it being almost ten years old we probably should just buy a brand new one, we bought another tower but kept the monitor.  We're running Windows XP and it's a Gateway Microtower.
