The current items I have (already purchased) are:
Processor: Intel Core2Quad 755 - $311
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 LGA 775 ATX - $280
Power: ABS Tagan BZ 700W LED Power Supply - $170
Graphics: PNY GeForce 8600GT 512MB - $150
Memory: GSkill 8GB Memory (2GBx4) - $280
In total, it's a $1191 upgrade.
I'd like to know if these items will be a good setup, how long would it take to replace all of this from a current PC, and what else I should get (everything else is retail from the current pc).
Alright, I'm assuming we're talking about the Q6600. If so, excellent choice.
Now, in regards to the motherboard and the graphics card..
This motherboard support Crossfire, and yet you want to buy a graphics card that supports SLi.
And why do you need a 700w power supply for a wimpy little 8600 GT that needs no more than 400w?
And why buy the 8600 GT? It can barely play new games on high.
And then we have the RAM.. What are you doing that you need more than 2GB of RAM? It better be good.
