internet browser connection

using windows vista.
instant messenger working fine, but can't connect either firefox or internet explorer browsers.  going through dell support center it says "you are already connected', I tag "browse the internet", it says "no internet connection detected".  we are using a wireless connection and other PCs are working fine along with instant messenger one the one in question. Everything was working fine a few days ago.

Try to connect your computer straight to to the modem, bypassing router, and see if it works.
