A couple of small windows xp problems
    « on: November 28, 2007, 04:26:33 PM »
    Hi

First off, I accidentaly deleted the shortcut to desktop I used to have on my taskbar thing, I tried re-adding another one but when I clicked it, it bought it up like any other folder - how do i get it back?

Secondly, when I open the volume control, it appears open on the taskbar but it doesn't actually open on my screen??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    The Shoe

    problem did not exist ?

Follow the instructions provided by ComputerHope. See below

      1. right click taskbar > Toolbars > check Desktop

      2. did you double click the speaker icon on the taskbar on the far right?

Do you mean the Show Desktop icon on the Quick Launch toolbar?

The Elder Geek has instructions on how to restore it.

Restore Show Desktop Icon to Quick Launch on Taskbar

                Try this...
Go Start>Control Panel, double click on Sounds and Audio Devices
Click the Volume tab. In the "Device Volume" section, uncheck "Place volume icon in the taskbar".
                Click Apply.
Put checkmark back into "Place volume icon in the taskbar".
                Click Apply.
