Ok so I just got a new 22" viewsonic VG2230wm HD LCD monitor, I used the disk that came with it to install the drivers but it gets to the point where it tells me it cannot automatically change the screen resoultion to 1680 x 1280 and then asks if i want to manually install it. So I go into device manager to right click on monitors to update driver but there is no monitor icon in the device manager!! So I tried going online and downloading monitor drivers but it always goes back to the same thing, no monitor in device manager! I am so stuck my screen looks like crap! I was wondering how I get the monitor back into the device manager

What Windows version?

It all depends, if your video card supports that kind of resolution. What video card do you have?

Yeah other devices-ethernet controller, PCI simple communtcations controller,video controller(vga compatible)

OK look there was a bunch of info about IEGD and it seemed like I had to create a "new package"but i had no idea exactly what to do so I tried shutting it all down for a while. I was unable to shut down the IEGD configuration thing or restart my computer. I ended up leaving it for a while and the computer eventually restarted. I guess that Intel graphic driver thing worked because my internet looks a lot flashier(cool colours) but it unfortunately it doesn't fix my blurry problem of add a monitor or anything for that matter to the device manager.

That means, your driver didn't install correctly.
I checked that download myself, and it's Self-extracting installation program, so it should install itself.
I need to know EXACTLY what happens, when you double click on that IEGD_8_0_GOLD_1063.exe file. Step-by-step, or a screenshot is gonna be helpful.

alright so I installed it again, it completed successfully, so I clicked on the .exe file Intel Embedded Graphics Drivers comes up as if a program is about to start but then a little info box popps up and says "another instance of the CED is running." And still only video controller in device manager.........

Alright thanks, that installed and now monitors and display adaptors is in the device manager and my new monitor is is fully installed and my screen looks a lot better but it's still a little blurry.

In Device Manager are there any error listed (yellow exclamation/question marks) next to either monitor, or Display Adapter?
I don't remember, but did you install monitor driver, which came on CD with your monitor?
What screen resolution did you set up?

Nope! No errors and I even tried to update drivers(just to see) but they were up to date! The screen resolution is 1680x1050 and the monitor installation said it completed after I installed #2 off the Intel link. My screen looks way better, I can actually read the words without hurting my eyes!

It is still a little blurry though but way better!! Thanks a lot for all of your help!
