    « on: December 04, 2007, 02:44:19 PM »
    After downloading the new version of Goggle Earth, it is having trouble loading. It will go up to about 19-20% and then freeze.
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled several time and it does the same thing everytime.

        From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

        "Video memory is a term generally used in computers to describe some form of writable memory, usually RAM, dedicated to the purpose of holding the information necessary for a graphics card to drive a display device. In modern 3D graphics cards, the video memory may also hold 3D vector data, textures, backbuffers, overlays and GPU programs.

        This memory sometimes takes the form of dedicated memory chips integrated in the framebuffer, and sometimes takes the form of a Shared Memory Architecture"

            Unfortunately that's not specific enough about your video card.  Click start, run, and in the box type dxdiag.  Once that opens, click on Display, and copy what it has next to Name.  Then we should be able to help a little more.  However, the rest of your system is more than capable to run it.  Are all your drivers updated?

            This is about installation, or opening program itself?

              We'll try to help, as long as you provide us with correct info.
              Your computer specs look alright.
              So, you're saying that Google Earth freezes during INSTALLATION, right?
              If so, try to restart your computer, and don't open any other applications, while installing.
              Oh, try to download it one more time. Sometimes download got corrupted.

                I apologize for not being clear. I have no problem installing it. The problem is when I start to open it up it. At the bottom it shows the percentage as it opens up; when it gets to 19-20% it freezes.

                Thanks for all the help!

                As I said, try to restart your computer, and open Google Earth without opening any other programs. It's pretty resources hungry application.

                System requirements for Google Earth on the PC

                The Google Earth client requires certain system configurations in order to run smoothly.

                      Minimum configuration:

                    * Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP
                    * CPU speed: Intel® Pentium® PIII 500 MHz
                    * System memory (RAM): 128MB
                    * 200MB hard-disk space
                    * 3D graphics card: 3D-capable video card with 16MB VRAM
                    * 1024x768, 32-bit true color screen
                    * Network speed: 128 kbps ("Broadband/Cable Internet")

                      Recommended configuration:

                    * Operating system: Windows XP
                    * CPU speed: Intel® Pentium® P4 2.4GHz+ or AMD 2400xp+
                    * System memory (RAM): 512MB
                    * 2GB hard-disk space
                    * 3D graphics card: 3D-capable video card with 32MB VRAM or greater
                    * 1280x1024, 32-bit true color screen
                    * Network speed: 128 kbps ("Broadband/Cable Internet")

                Seems like you meet the requirements here...the vid card being the weakest link.
                How much free space is on your HDD ? ?
