silly question about windows

hi everyone,
i dont know much about computers...but we got our harddrive replaced. there is no microsoft word or powerpoint installed, i always thought that if Windows XP was installed then i would have those programs? is that right?

so i need to install windwos xp to get those programs?

    Windows XP is the operating system.
    Word, powerpoint, excel etc are all part of Windows Office which are applications that do not come with Windows XP. These have to be installed after the operating system has been installed.

    iv got microsoft office 2000
    should i install that or buy another one?

    while installing office 2000 i got error message

    unable to access configuration for microsoft personal web server


    what could be the problem?
