Is this video card compatible?
« on: November 29, 2007, 05:38:15 PM »
I'm going to buy this card, before I do I wanted to make sure it's compatible with my computer. Does it need some special power connector or something? My computer:

HP Pavilion a6000n PC
AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.2 GHz 4200+
1 GB RAM
300 W PSU (I checked on that power calculator, it said I only need 260ish watts with my setup and the card)
nVidia nForce 4 series motherboard (I can find the exact model if needed)

The system requirements for it state a minimum of 300W power supply and a PCI Express-compliant motherboard, both of which you have.  If your power supply is one of good quality, I'd say you'll be OK with that video card.

I finally got the card, shipping took a while. It's great, except for one thing. Battlefield 2 but it won't start. The screen goes black, and then after about 3 seconds it goes back to the desktop without any error message. I know that this is a common issue. According to random websites this happens when you have a video card that's too old, this one obviously isn't. The other one is that the game doesn't like it when your refresh rate is above 60. Mine is 60, because thats the recommended one for my monitor. Why won't it start?

mines at 72 and mine works, perhaps you need to upgrade your video card drivers.
