OE sent status 'warning'
« on: December 11, 2007, 03:25:39 PM »
Hi, i hope someone can help as I've tried everything I can think of.

when sending an email using OE, the email arrives ok with the recipient but in OE it remains in the outbox and the box that pops up when you send emails shows 1 sent message with a status as 'warnings'

does anyone know how to sort this or had the problem before?

Many thanks

Ben

Does OE do this regardless of who you're sending mail to, or is it just with one particular recipient?

Are you sending attachments your ISP doesn't like such as .exe files ? ?

I'm not sure whether this is something internal to your computer or maybe related to ISP issues as patio mentioned.  In case it's internal, try compacting messages and see whether that resolves the problem.  Here's a good reference on compacting: http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/why.htm#compact

Hi, no I'm not sending any attachments. I've never had this problem before and have been using ISP for over a year with no problems.

I'll try the compacting, any other ideas?

Doubtful, and I'm waiting until you try compacting.

I don't know about other viewers but I can't read the text on the small error message panel.  Can you post only it?  While it's the active window, use Alt/Print Scrn to capture only that part of your screen.

How have you been handling this problem so far?  Do you leave messages in the Outbox or manually delete them or drag them to another folder?

Can you also post a screen shot of that panel with the Errors tab selected instead of the Tasks tab?

Double check your SMTP settings...

Do you have a firewall installed here ? ?

Have you tried contacting your ISP ? ?
Does Internet Security include a firewall ? ?

I've honestly never seen this...

I have and have run through all the setting with them - nothing flagged up there.

The strange thing is the laptop has been set up like this for over a year, I haven't changed anything or loaded a new programme since i got it. I've tried disabling the norton email filters for both incoming and outgoing mail and the inboaund firewall, but it still happens!

would it be worth removing OE and starting again?

That would be my next suggestion...
Perhaps Quaxo or Soybean will chime in with their excellent guides to backing things up before you wipe it....
