Find browsing history
« on: December 12, 2007, 03:30:52 PM »
I would like to know if there is a way to find what my kids have been on if they have deleted the browser history. Is there a way to find out where they have been?    Thanks

I have never tried restoring to an earlier date on XP
to find old browser files that were deleted. Though it
does seem practical, I could be wrong here.

I cant saw whether  it will work or not, but I can say it wont be the safest/greatest idea, as if you installed or modified your system, and then restored, you would loose those changes.

There are programs meant for restoring deleted web data, but my best recommendations is simply to install web filtering software. There is a free one called K9, recommended by Rob Pomeroy (an old CH member) that works quite well. See here: http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

Even if history is deleted, all data is still in INDEX.DAT file.
How to open it, read here: http://searchwincomputing.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid68_gci1215619,00.html
