and yeah I looked at lunar pages... its kind of expensive and its per month. The hosting per month is fine but I would like to just purchase the domain per year, or is that what it means when it says free domain for life?

ya, I think the domain name comes free when you subscribe to the hosting. you don't ever have to pay for it.....

You may want to check to see if you still have the rights to the domain if you switch hosts, though..... Just a thought. ;)

Ugh.Heard lots of bad things about them online.

And from a friend of mine...
This was a stupid article, in my opinion.  I believe GoDaddy.com is the #1 selling domain registrar now.  I use them and my son has several domains registered with them.  Sure, they try to sell other services beyond basic domain registration.  But, you can simply ignore that stuff; they're are forcing you to buy anything you don't want.

And, of course, if you register your domain name through them, you have no obligation to use them as your web hosting service.  I use www.totalchoicehosting.com; their Starter Plan is $4/mo.

       www.totalchoicehosting.com seems cool =]
I am just not one for ads like that(Unless I bust them.lol)
My friend gets emails on the 1st of every month telling me why he should upgrade. ::)
But,I guess whatever makes people feel safe.
mcdonald's might be the #1 selling fast food place but,I am not going to eat there.

total choice hosting seems expensive to me though. you only get 700mb for 4 dollars a month. I don't know, that just seems gorrible to me. I like tha unlimeted SQL DB's, but then again i dont even know how many I would use cause I dont know anything about SQL yet. Im still working on that.

Well, are you really going to develop a website that needs more disk space than 700mb?  700mb would be sufficient for a site with hundreds of pages, based on average size of web pages.

And, have you looked at other hosting services to compare?  I believe 700mb for $4/mo., along with the other features, is quite reasonable.

Well I think we're going to make graphics to sell so we will need to host hundreds of picture files. I mean I know picture files are small but there is a big demand and with three of us working together to produce them, the space will fill up fast. I like all the other features of the hosting though.

My advice is get something with lots of space. You'll use it... maybe not with website related stuff, but you'll use it. I always had stuff on mine that I wanted to be able to access anywhere, like songs, videos, documents, etc. in a password protected directory.

      Check out www.networksolutions.com.

They arent the cheapest, but you get a free domain, 7G of storage, and toll free 24/7 support. With no hidden fees.

Alot of places like godaddy will charge you for customer service, domain transfers, etc.

If your going to pay 4$ a month for hosting, you better be prepared to get what you pay for.

      Good Luck.
