My C: drive access gone in My Computer!

I have win. XP Pro and all my drives display except C: (My Maxtor hard drive). Went into control panel files and folders and can't seem to get the drive to display. I am having no problems or error bangs displaying, just want to regain access to the C: drive for error checking. How to recover access to C: please?

I looked at the service for Logiacal Disk Management and restarted it. No change in the C; Drive on/in My Computer being seen..still "stealth".

How is it listed in My Computer ? ?
Control Panel only lists physical drives...not drives and partitions.

Take the HardDrive out and still leave it connected, bot up your pc and fill if its spining or not.  If it isn't the Harddrive died.

Don't know 'bout yours,but MY Comp. (when I left click) shows my Hard Drive Devices.

Squall 101, My comp.is working fine.
I just don't see my Hard Drive dispayed in My Computer any more.
On my other comp. the Hard Drives show as usual.
What's up with my DELL 4100?

You said Control Panel...now you are saying My Computer...2 different things.
Double clik My Computer and post a screen shot so we can see what's happening here.

....sigh. Click on Run... (under the start menu) and type in dxdiag.

If you give us the log file from that...we could glean some information...just proabably not enough.


Just make one thing clear to me. If You have Multiple hard drives, Which one is your operating system running off of.
if you only have one...did you check the other drive letters to see if it could be one of those? (I myself have a secondary hard drive called G, a recovery drive called D, and a main drive called C.)

Broni, found it there in Control Panel>Admin Tools>Storage>Disk Mgm. and i can Right click and get to the Disk Clean-up by going through Properties as before.
I guess this is fixed?
Why does the drive dissappear like that from My Computer?

Download, and install TweakUI: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/tweakui.htm
It'll install to Control Panel.
Open it.
On the My Computer tab, click to select the check boxes of the drive C
Click OK.
Check My Computer for drive C
