cd drive working but??

ok i have a liteon dvd writer  it will load everything just fine,but when i try to play a movie it acts like it getting a scrambled signal, sound is scratchy  can't see  movie.. if anyone has any ideas on whats wrong would be very helpful.  Thanks

sorry  player is  samsung 18xdvdrw lightscribe, os is xp home all updates,  8800 gts 640,c2d 6300 (oc 2.88) 2 gig crucial balistic,ib9 mobo ,i'm just trying to watch regular movies nothing burnt

How old is that drive? Maybe some codecs missing?

What are your computer specs, mostly processor speed, RAM amount, and video card RAM?

Along with posting the info you can DLoad and try both VLC and GOM...both FREE alternative players and see if this changes things...

PNY 8800gts  640mb, player is samsung 18xdvdrw IDE, it did flash a little pop up once saying something about comercial rights or something like that

I suspect the player and codecs are fine and the DRM people are getting better at what they do...
