Install bluetooth DBT-122 adapter on windows vista
    « on: January 01, 2008, 02:35:37 PM »
    Hi there!
For my newyear (happy newyear to everyone btw :-)) I got a bluetooth adapter from Dlink (model number: DBT-122). I downloaded the drivers for windows VISTA and I tried to install the device. However, I keep getting the question if I want to install the driver. I click on accept this driver and a few seconds later I get the question again. If I click I don't accept this driver, the same problem hapens again. The window looks like this:
    http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/235/vistayb7.jpg
(it's in dutch but I have described what it asks (=do you want to install the driver)). Even running the setup in compability modus  (winxp sp2) or as administrator didn't help anything.

    Can anyone help me pls?
Everybody knows you can't click here. But I know you will try it :)

Good to seeya again blackberry ! !
Have you tried temporarily disconnecting from the web and disabling your firewall and Anti-Virus apps and re-installing the driver ? ?
Also you may want to check the driver CD that shipped with the machine to see if the Bluetooth MBoard drivers are in fact installed already.

      Hi Patio, good to c u 2!
The CD that was shipped with the bluetooth adapter was a cd with a driver for windows xp and lower, and there I had the same problem. I might try to disable my antivirus, it could be indeed that that blocks it. I'll let you know what happens..

EDIT: Sigh, that didn't work :-(, altough, I'm not givin' up. Does anyone have other ideas ?:-)
Does anyone perhaps know how to disable Windows-Security (I see that name above in the window, but it' s not related to windows firewall 'cause I disabled that one too and still I keep seeying the same window again and again.

Have you tried installing the driver(s) before physically attaching the device?

          Sorry Blackberry,
After re-reading this i can see i may have been mis-understood. I meant the driver CD that shipped with the computer itself...perhaps there is a bluetooth MBoard driver that has to be installed first.
Remove the other device driver before doing this if in fact there is one on there.

You may also want to check the BIOS to see if it has to be enabled prior to running any devices...

I checked the CD's but there was only a video driver (altough I have searched for that one too, so I found a solution for one thing, but not for the problem I wanted lol). There is also no bluetooth driver onboard. I also chatted with the (my pc is a hp) hp assistant online, but that didn't bring me a lot further, let's just say I've met smarter people online then those there ;-).

Anyway, if somebody else knows a solution: it's more then welcome

I know it's not a direct solution but a combo PCI USB/Bluetooth card is only about 25 bucks...and you could always use more USB ports no ? ?

That would be a half acceptable solution if I would have indeed a PCI slot avaible.. I know I'm a difficult case and I whine a lot, but I would die to see it working :-)

Not difficult at all....challenging is a better word for it.
What are the MBoard specs ? ?

You might want to use babelfish to translate some parts, but I think most will be understandable

No translation needed...Nice Machine for an HP!
I'm at a loss as to what it could be as i think we've covered all the bases...did you check the BIOS BTW to see if it's enabled ?
Can't remember if you answered this or not.

I'm starting to suspect the hardware itself. Will they test hookup the device where you bought it to make sure it's not the cable/device thats at fault ? ?
                Just an idea...

I've entered the bios config, but I didn't see anything about bluetooth, just the amount of ram and some other specs, and boot order from devices but nothing about bluetooth.

I don't think it's the hardware because the software refuses to install, even before the hardware is connected. If I put in the adapter, I get a notification that the device is found but it can't be used because there are no drivers for it.

I suspect vista that refuses to install the driver because it thinks it is pottential unsafe. Is there any way to disable the notification if you want to install the driver even though it is in vista eyes a bad one?
